Inspiring learning environment
Our classroom spaces are therapeutically informed to ensure students learn in a calm, nurturing environment. This continues into our clinical suite (The Den), where students can access support from our in-house therapeutic team. We enrich and facilitate the learning our students receive with the fantastic resources and facilities we have at our disposal.
There’s a communal hub where students can relax, play games, participate in activities and attend training sessions. This is also an area where we support social skills and communication whilst helping students build meaningful friendships with other students and staff members they haven’t worked with before. This allows them to develop their speaking and listening, turn-taking and other skills they’ll need as they grow into adults.
The school’s outside and horticulture area allows the students to get outdoors and flex their green fingers, while the greenhouse gives them the opportunity to understand how to nurture plants all year round. The students have also created their own outdoor sensory space, which provides a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature.
We have our very own workshop where we teach bike maintenance and bricklaying skills. These build towards vocational and practical activities and qualifications. And when it’s time to get messy, our creative arts gallery is the place to be! Here, students can enjoy painting, 3D work and textiles. It’s a versatile space where they can express themselves, be creative and have fun.
Finally, when it comes to honing their culinary skills, students can use our newly furbished food-technology suite. It’s kitted out with everything they need to cook up a masterpiece and learn valuable independence skills that will benefit them for life.
